It was the start of a musical adventure that has never ceased to fascinate me. His music was to be the subject of my musicology dissertation at the University of Tours in 1992. This was followed by the publication of my first book by Jobert in 1998 then another by Cig’art in 2010. There were several papers for concert programs and CD booklets, and the creation of two documentary films in 2020 and 2021. Then there were commissioned works, new compositions and recordings of works for harp. I hope to make this site into a place of reference for musiciens, instrumentalists, musicologists and music lovers – indeed for whoever wishes to discover Tôn-Thât Tiêt’s universe. I shall include those documents which have helped to shape my work as a biographer: exchanges with the composer, letters, papers and analyses I have written about his works, etc.

What a privilege it has been, in my life as a musician and indeed my life as a whole, to know a man like Tôn-Thât Tiêt, infinitively modest, a composer of magical sounds and colour. His music is full of feeling and finesse, a perfect blend of two cultures, both Vietnamese and European. Throughout these years of friendship and concerts I have come to know the musician as well as the highly cultivated man of culture open to others and the world. From 1978 to the present day and for all time, he embodies the life of the spirit, and life itself, in a difficult world. A miracle of friendship.
Charles Frey, violonist

We can’t fail to agree with Tôn-Thât Tiêt that music can express feelings and thoughts more powerfully than words!
