
Après avoir suivi les enseignements de Sylvie Beltrando, Catherine de Preissac, Annie Fontaine et Frédérique Cambreling, Laurence Bancaud est admise au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris et obtient un Premier Prix de harpe en 1993 dans la classe de Marie-Claire Jamet et Francis Pierre.
With a focus on chamber music, Laurence Bancaud performs in various ensembles. She is the co-creator of the “Duo Horspiste” with the flautist Carine Honorat. Particularly committed to contemporary music and world premiers, she is President of the “Les signes de l’arc” association Les Signes de l’Arc “the harp in motion: creation and experimentation" which she co-founded in 2011. She is also co-artistic director of Collegium21She is also the author of “Tôn-Thât Tiêt, Dialogue avec la nature”, Cig’art edition, 2010, and co-author of “La Harpe aux XXème et XXIème siècles: notation, facture, répertoire” (Minerve, 2013). The English version of this book is “Guide to the Contemporary Harp” (Indiana University Press, 2019). .. . . . ..
In 2020 she directed the documentary Tôn-Thât Tiêt… et coule la rivière… (production Les signes de l’arc), and in 2021 Une émotion à transmettre (production Conservatoire & Orchestre de Caen).
Finally, she has a passion for Asia, and plays the Dan tranh, the Vietnamese zither.
Laurence Bancaud was appointed a Professeur d’Enseignement Artistique de la Fonction Publique in 2000. She teaches in Paris at the Conservatoire Municipal du 17e arrondissement.
